One of the best treks for a beginner, the Khaliya top trek is a haven for adventure junkies and nature enthusiasts. Located near the town of Munsiyari in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, Khaliya Top is a Tehsil and Sub Division situated at an elevation of almost 11,500 feet or 3,500 metres above the sea level.

Tucked amidst tall alpine trees and offering stunning views of the Panchachuli, Ramrambha, Hardeol and Nanda Kot peaks, this place is unlike any other in the magical land of Kumaun. Khaliya Top is also a great destination if you are looking to indulge in adventure sports like trekking, skiing, hiking and camping.

Khaliya top trekking is one of the most popular treks in Uttarakhand. This 4-kilometre trek is considered to be quite an easy trail, where one can soak in scintillating views of various mountain ranges. Additionally, this trek is a visual treat for nature lovers, as one can enjoy seeing snow even during the early summer months whilst trekking.

For photographers, the Khaliya Top Trek is great for catching glimpses of rare and exotic bird and wildlife species, as well as the fiery red rhododendrons which adorn the region.

Itinerary

Day 1Kathgodam to Munsiyari

Upon your arrival at Kathgodam Railway Station in Haldwani, you will be received by our designated driver for the khaliya top Uttarakhand trek. After a hearty breakfast at Kathgodam, you will be taken for local sightseeing on your way to Munsiyari.

Located at a distance of around 270 kilometres, this trip will be covered in approximately 7 to 9 hours. You can catch glimpses of various alpine trees, such as Chir, Oak, Pine, Deodar or even Rhododendrons on your way while passing through Almora, Bageshwar Kausani, Thal and Chaukori. You can also enjoy a delectable local lunch on the way.

Located at an elevation of 2,250 metres above the sea level, Munsiyari is a small town in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district. Known for its scenic sunrises and sunsets, this town is also a beautiful and offbeat holiday destination. Upon reaching Munsiyari in the evening, you can catch the sunset after being checked-in to your hotel where you will stay overnight.

Day 2Munsiyari to Khaliya Top

On the second day of your Khaliya top Uttarakhand trek, after breakfast at the hotel, you will start your trek to the first campsite at Khaliya Top. It is known as one of the best areas for camping in Kumaun Himalayas. This is a journey of around 6 to 7 kilometres and will take you approximately 7 to 8 hours to cover. On the way, you will pass through dense forests, verdant meadows and quaint towns. You can also soak in picturesque views of the snow-capped Panchachuli, Nanda Devi and Nada Ghunti ranges, along with others. 

If you are lucky enough, you can also see some rare animal and bird species, such as the Monal, Ghurar, Yellow-fronted Marten and Mountain Goat whilst trekking to the top. The trek is a steep and gradual climb and is quite easy for beginners as well. You will also pass the scenic Birthi Falls on the way to Khaliya Top. Upon reaching the first camp, you can catch a panoramic 360-degree view of the mountains, valleys and the snowline. Then, you will be taken to your set up tents where, after dinner, you will spend the night.

Day 3Khaliya Top to Dharamgar

After spending a serene night under the stars at Khaliya Top, you are sure to wake up feeling all refreshed in the morning. After breakfast, you will begin your descent back to Munsiyari. This descent is gradual, and you can see people paragliding or enjoying other adventure sports around the area.

Upon reaching Munsiyari, you will be checked-in to a beautiful guest house, where you can enjoy a delicious dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4Munsiyari to Kathgodam

This will be the final day of your khaliya top Uttarakhand trek. On this day, after early morning breakfast at the guest house, you will check out and start your journey back to Kathgodam. You will be dropped off at Kathgodam Railway Station, where you can catch your train back home.

Charges of mules/poerters carrying extra luggage. (Rs 300/per bag payable to Himal Trek & Tour Personnel at the base camp ).

PAYMENT POLICY:

A) 46 days or more before date of departure: 25% of total cost.
B) 31- 45 days before date of departure: 50% of total cost.
C) 30 days before date of departure: 100% of total cost.
IMPORTANT: The booking stands liable to be cancelled if 100% payment is not received less than 30 days before date of departure.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

For the cancellation of trek services due to any avoidable / unavoidable reasons, we must be notified of the same in writing:

*CANCELLATION CHARGES PER PERSON

a) 30 days or more before the departure date: 25% of the total cost.
b) 29 - 20 days before the departure date: 50% of total cost.
c) Less than 20 days before the departure day: 100% of the total cost.
d) Cancellation less than 10 days to the start of the trek: Transfer your trek (same trek, same batch) to your friend. No cash refund.

*IF WE CHANGE OR CANCEL YOUR HOLIDAY

We do plan the arrangements in advance. It is unlikely that we will have to make any changes to your travel arrangements.
Occasionally, we may have to make changes and we reserve the right to do so at any time. If there are any changes, we will advise you of them at the earliest possible date. We also reserve the right under any circumstances to cancel you travel arrangements by assigning reasons to you.
If we are unable to provide the booked travel arrangements due to reasons beyond control ( e.g. bad weather, insufficient bookings) we shall first try to offer alternative dates for the tour if the tour has'nt already commenced. If the alternate arrangement does not suit you, we will refund the amount in full.

NOTE:

1)- Change of trek batch is dependent on the availability of seats in the batch.
2)- In case of transferring a trek to a friend, he/ she should satisfy all the mandatory requirements put forward by Himal Trek & Tour .
3)- Himal Trek & Tour holds the right to change/cancel the policies, without prior notice.

Himal Trek & Tour reserves the right to decline, or accept, any individual as a trip member for any reason whatsoever.

Written cancellation will be accepted on working days (only). Any cancellation sent on a Sunday or any National Holiday(s), will be considered on the next official working day.
In the event of any cancellation(s) after trip commencement, there will be no refunds and any costs incurred due to this cancellation will be borne by you.
Irrespective of when a trip is booked, the above condition will hold true.

HOW TO REACH

By Air :-

There is a wide range of options that can be utilised to reach Munsiyari. Of late this tourist place has been attracting many nature lovers and honeymooners. Your overall travelling experience is enriched once you reach this lovely town ensconced in the Uttarakhand. Patnagar airport is nearest to Munsiyari town. The airway itself is situated in the beautiful Nainital, a total distance of 249 kilometres from Munsiyari. Taxis are easily available from the airport. On a daily basis there are a number of flights to Patnagar airport from all over the country. The Delhi International Airport is used more by the international tourists from where air-conditioned taxis are available. In Pithoragarh, the Naini Saini airport is there, but not as popular as Patnagar.

By Train:-

The two railway stations that are nearby are Tanakpur and Kathgodam, both of them roughly 200 kilometres from Munsiyari. Munsiyari taxis are easily available from both the rail heads and these two stations are also very well connected with all the major Indian cities.

By Road:-

Munsiyari is very well connected with all the places of Uttarakhand and also the Northern Indian cities. Buses are available to Champavat, Almora and Tanakpur from ISBT Anand Vihar and then cabs can be hired to reach up to Munsiyari. You can also taxis from Kumaon district to Munsiyari.

DO’S AND DON’TS ON A TREK

1.Alcohols or any other intoxicating products "STRICTLY PROHIBHITED" during the trek.
2.Always pay heed to the trek guides or instructors.
3.Try not to leave the group under any circumstances.
4.Avoid trekking during the nights as it is extremely dangerous.
5.Avoid using earphones as that might hinder your hearing.
6.Do not participate or encourage littering of the places in any form.
7.While visiting the local villages and tourist sites, obey the local guidelines and instructions.
8.Do not harm or interrupt the local sentiments of the places.

IMPORTANT:

Your safety is of paramount concern while travelling with Himveer Tour & Trek.
Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns.
Since adventure entails travelling in remote mountainous regions, we cannot guarantee that we will not deviate from it. Weather conditions, health condition of a group member, unexpected natural disasters, etc., can all contribute to changes in the itinerary. The leader will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if required.
