If walking on the glaciers, passing through the forest, gazing up at a clear blue sky and enjoying the best of nature is what interest you the most then a trek to Milam Glacier can be the best idea for your adventure vacation. The Milam glaciers, located at an elevation of 4268 m, sprawling over an area of 37 sq km, have all the reasons on this earth to be on the bucket list of every trekker. Trail, from the base camp, Munsyari, till the glacier, is bestowed with a unique blend of splendor and thrill. It will be little tiresome as the trail might show challenges on some turns but the result, breathtaking view of the Mt. Trishuli (7070m) and Hardeol (7151m), is worth all the effort and money.
Indo-Sino war 1962, citizens of both the countries witnessed something they would have never imagined would happen. You can see the remnants of the Indo-Sino war in some prominent landmarks of the Milam Glacier trek. In the year 1962, the trek was closed for trekkers, however, in the year 1994, trekking was started again and slowly it became closest to many trekkers and adventurers hearts.
The expedition to the glacier starts from Munsiyari, a small town which is 300 km away from the Kathgodam. The trekking is rather simple here as you will have trek downhill till the Jimighat. Next day in the morning, putting on a brave smile, you will head to Bugdiar, which can be reached by crossing a series of the forest. After Bugdiar, you will have to pass narrow gorges to reach Martoli and then further to Milam, which will be the final destination. The trail, from Munsiyari till Milam, brings out the true colours of nature.
Dense forest lined with trees clung to each other, chattering streams making its way to the river from the glaciers, meeting and greeting the locals along with challenges makes the Milam Glacier trek best for explorers and adventurers, alike. The 13 days travel to Milam Glacier Trek might show you the most pristine form of nature, which can change your perspective about the bounty of the natural world. It’s tough to explain further the splendors of the trek, as it can be only experienced.
Itinerary
Day 1Arrive at Munsyari - Kathgodam - Almora(2290 mts/7512 ft) 300 kms/8-9 hrs
On arrival, meet our agent, who will be your guide for the tour. From the station, you will be transferred to a hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 2Drive from Munsiyari - Lilam (1850 m/6068 ft) (14 kms/ 5-6 hrs)
The first leg of your journey towards Milam Glacier starts from Munsiyari. After breakfast, you will begin your trek to Lilam via Darkot. From Darkot, the trek will descend downhill to Gori Ganga until Jimighat. From the riverside, you will trek back to Lilam. Overnight stay at camps in Lilam.
Day 3Lilam – Bugdiar (2500 mts/8200 ft) (12 kms/5-6 hrs)
Getting up in the morning, you will trek uphill to Bugdiar. After crossing a series of lush green forest, lined with trees, you will reach Bugdiar. Flocks of sheep and goats are a common sight at the meadows of Bugdiar, which will be our campsite for the night stay. Dinner will be served in the tent.
Day 4Bugdiar– Martoli (3430 mts/11250 ft) (14 kms/5-6 hrs)
Passing through the series of narrow gorges today, you will trek to Martoli via Railkot, which is located at the edge of Lwan Gad Valley. Overnight stay in the tent in village Martoli.
Day 5Martoli – Milam (3450 m/11316 ft) (11kms/5-6 hrs)
With today’s trek, you will reach the most important landmark of the trek, Milam village. On the sixth day, you will firstly cross the bridges over Lwan Gad and Gori Ganga to reach Burphu Village (3350 M). Your next stopover point will be Milam village, which will also be your stopover for camping.
Day 6Milam – Milam Glacier – Milam (6 kms /3-4 hrs)
Set forth after an early breakfast on a trail to Milam Glacier, from where you can enjoy the panoramic view of magnificent peaks like Rishi Parvat (6692 M), Hardeol (7151 M) and Tirsuli (7074 M). Later trek back to Milam for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7Milam - Railkot (3250 M/10725)
Trek downhill for 17 km till Railkot. Overnight stay in the tent.
Day 8Railkot – Bugdiar
You will trek 12 km downhill even today; highlights of the trail are the narrow gorge of Nahar Devi. Overnight stay in the tent.
Day 9Bugdiar – Lilam
Its 12 km of downhill all the way. Reach campsite by the afternoon and chill out. Overnight in tents.
Day 10Lilam – Munsiyari
Trek to the road head and head back to Munsiyari for a well deserved hot water bath. Overnight in rest house.

All transfers in shared taxi right from PICKUP POINTS to DROP POINTS

All camping gear including tents and sleeping mattress. Liner,Kitchen tent, Dining tent and toilet tent.
Good Experience Hindi/ English guide, cooks and porters, mules.

PAYMENT POLICY:
A) 46 days or more before date of departure: 25% of total cost.
B) 31- 45 days before date of departure: 50% of total cost.
C) 30 days before date of departure: 100% of total cost.
IMPORTANT: The booking stands liable to be cancelled if 100% payment is not received less than 30 days before date of departure.
CANCELLATION POLICY:
For the cancellation of trek services due to any avoidable / unavoidable reasons, we must be notified of the same in writing:
*CANCELLATION CHARGES PER PERSON
a) 30 days or more before the departure date: 25% of the total cost.
b) 29 - 20 days before the departure date: 50% of total cost.
c) Less than 20 days before the departure day: 100% of the total cost.
d) Cancellation less than 10 days to the start of the trek: Transfer your trek (same trek, same batch) to your friend. No cash refund.
*IF WE CHANGE OR CANCEL YOUR HOLIDAY
We do plan the arrangements in advance. It is unlikely that we will have to make any changes to your travel arrangements.
Occasionally, we may have to make changes and we reserve the right to do so at any time. If there are any changes, we will advise you of them at the earliest possible date. We also reserve the right under any circumstances to cancel you travel arrangements by assigning reasons to you.
If we are unable to provide the booked travel arrangements due to reasons beyond control ( e.g. bad weather, insufficient bookings) we shall first try to offer alternative dates for the tour if the tour has'nt already commenced. If the alternate arrangement does not suit you, we will refund the amount in full.
NOTE:
1)- Change of trek batch is dependent on the availability of seats in the batch.
2)- In case of transferring a trek to a friend, he/ she should satisfy all the mandatory requirements put forward by Himal Trek & Tour .
3)- Himal Trek & Tour holds the right to change/cancel the policies, without prior notice.

*In the event of any cancellation(s) after trip commencement, there will be no refunds and any costs incurred due to this cancellation will be borne by you.

HOW TO REACH
By Air :-
There is a wide range of options that can be utilised to reach Munsiyari. Of late this tourist place has been attracting many nature lovers and honeymooners. Your overall travelling experience is enriched once you reach this lovely town ensconced in the Uttarakhand. Patnagar airport is nearest to Munsiyari town. The airway itself is situated in the beautiful Nainital, a total distance of 249 kilometres from Munsiyari. Taxis are easily available from the airport. On a daily basis there are a number of flights to Patnagar airport from all over the country. The Delhi International Airport is used more by the international tourists from where air-conditioned taxis are available. In Pithoragarh, the Naini Saini airport is there, but not as popular as Patnagar.
By Train:-
The two railway stations that are nearby are Tanakpur and Kathgodam, both of them roughly 200 kilometres from Munsiyari. Munsiyari taxis are easily available from both the rail heads and these two stations are also very well connected with all the major Indian cities.
By Road:-
Munsiyari is very well connected with all the places of Uttarakhand and also the Northern Indian cities. Buses are available to Champavat, Almora and Tanakpur from ISBT Anand Vihar and then cabs can be hired to reach up to Munsiyari. You can also taxis from Kumaon district to Munsiyari.

DO’S AND DON’TS ON A TREK
1.Alcohols or any other intoxicating products "STRICTLY PROHIBHITED" during the trek.
2.Always pay heed to the trek guides or instructors.
3.Try not to leave the group under any circumstances.
4.Avoid trekking during the nights as it is extremely dangerous.
5.Avoid using earphones as that might hinder your hearing.
6.Do not participate or encourage littering of the places in any form.
7.While visiting the local villages and tourist sites, obey the local guidelines and instructions.
8.Do not harm or interrupt the local sentiments of the places.

Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns.
Since adventure entails travelling in remote mountainous regions, we cannot guarantee that we will not deviate from it. Weather conditions, health condition of a group member, unexpected natural disasters, etc., can all contribute to changes in the itinerary. The leader will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if required.
